Bio
Shekhina is a Multiracial/Biracial Messianic Jewish Believer in Yeshua (Jesus). She believes that Counselors are born and not made, as stated in Isaiah 9:6. In addition to being a faith-based Psychotherapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Licensed Behavioral Consultant based out of Philadelphia, PA. Shekhina has an MS from Grand Canyon University and has over 25 years of counseling experience. Before that, she graduated in 2012 with her Bachelor of Science in Human Services from the Center for Urban Theological Studies (CUTS), credited by Geneva College. She owned and founded The Counselor's Heart Therapeutic Services in 2019. Her mission is to help individuals grow in their relationship with Yeshua, identify the root of dysfunctional behavior, and break the cycle of sin, toxic patterns, and intergenerational trauma/generational curses. People often "move forward with time, but never move on," meaning they move on with time but never move on from past hurts. She desires to help clients move on to live productive and healthy lives through their faith in God without being haunted by past trauma. "There's a difference between getting over and overcoming it."

She enjoyed working with clients who identify as believers in Yeshua (Jesus), children, teens, adults, and families who suffered and survived a traumatic event. Providing clients with Christian/Faith-based therapy utilizing scientific, evidence-based therapeutic approaches and the scriptural application gives the client holistic therapeutic experiences towards healing and wanting to become their best version utilizing biblical principles. Having worked with many Christians/Believers in Yeshua (Jesus) in diverse settings for the past 20 years, she developed a unique approach to utilizing evidence-based therapy and scripture references to help you identify the root cause of your challenges and see change immediately. Also, she used an eclectic therapy approach that draws on multiple theoretical orientations and techniques to serve my clients better.
Professionally, she has conducted therapeutic workshops and groups at different churches, schools, detention centers, organizations, conferences, and youth and young adult events.

Only in 2003 did she discover that Elohim was calling her into the human service field. She has always wanted to help people and see them change for the better. In 2009, she combined her human service skills with her poetic ability. While working at Horizon House as an Employment Specialist/Case Manager, she taught life skills to at-risk young adults and conducted poetry workshops on how poetry and spoken words could be therapeutic tools for individuals with mental health and disabilities.
Today, she works as a therapist in her practice (The Counselor's Heart Therapeutic Services "cheartservices"). She operates a youth therapeutic drama program during summer and after school (Stage It Up Youth Theater Group; www.stageitupdrama.com). She also worked in the Philadelphia Prison System as an activity therapist, providing mental health and group therapy services to inmates through creative expression.

Additionally, Shekhina published her therapeutic poetry book, " Childhood Dreams: Poetry from a Child's Mind, " in 2025, which you can find on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/author/shekhina.l.
